With the NFL’s free agency period rapidly approaching, bringing in a veteran wide receiver should be on the Green Bay Packers’ to-do list.

In the 2018 NFL draft, the Green Bay Packers made the wide receiver position a priority as they would end up selecting three receivers. Unfortunately for much of the season, the young receivers struggled to get on to the same page as quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and injuries to some key veterans resulted in an overall underwhelming performance by the receiving core.

As we look ahead to the 2019 season, outside of Davante Adams who has become one of the top receivers in the league, the Green Bay Packers have a lot of uncertainty surrounding this position.

Randall Cobb has often been injured and will become an unrestricted free agent, Geronimo Allison who was poised for a breakout season in 2018 spent most of it injured, and as mentioned above, the young receivers will continue to grow, but may not be ready for the responsibilities of being the number two or three options on the team.

With roughly $35 million in cap space available this offseason, the Green Bay Packers need to allocate a portion of that to sign a veteran wide receiver that can step in on day one and make an impact in this new Matt LaFleur offense.
