Carlos Gomez is a 29-year-old two-time All-Star on an affordable deal, even if he has been slowed by injuries several times already this season.
Gomez has played in just 43 games in 2015, hitting .270/.309/.433 with five homers and 24 RBI, but is on a very team-friendly contract that runs through 2016 and pays him $8 million this year and $9 million next season.
When he’s right, he’s a power-hitting speed demon who is also electric in the outfield.
Does he strike out too much? Well, yeah, but that seems to be less of an issue in today’s MLB than it ever has been before.
Gomez can become a free agent after next season and one GM told Heyman that “he’d be a huge piece” for a team looking for a center fielder.
