The penultimate edition of Re-Sign or Let Go & Prediction will focus on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown.

In this series, I have been taking a close look at each of the Packers’ 14 unrestricted free agents, discussing why Green Bay could re-sign each of them, why they could let those players walk in free agency, and then I make my prediction.

Why the Green Bay Packers could re-sign Equanimeous St. Brown

Believe it or not, there are actually quite a few reasons that keeping St. Brown makes sense. For one, the Packers could sure use some added depth at the receiver position.

Davante Adams has been franchise tagged, and I also believe Allen Lazard returns as well as a restricted free agent. However, Randall Cobb could be a cut candidate, we don’t really know what to expect from Amari Rodgers, and the only other receivers under contract currently are Juwann Winfree, Chris Blair, and Rico Gafford.

A few other important factors in this decision include St. Brown actually emerged as the season went on as a dynamic gunner on the punt coverage unit–which, admittedly, came as a bit of a surprise given that he rarely played special teams prior to 2021.

On top of that, despite the lack of production, Aaron Rodgers has spoken very highly of St. Brown, when on the field, he lined up in the slot and out wide, was utilized as the motion man as well as on jet sweeps, and as the Packers work to round out their 90-man roster for training camp, it’s not as if he is going to break the bank by any means either.

"“I do want to continue to highlight EQ,” said Rodgers following the Rams game via the Wisconsin State Journal. “He was released from the team, and he’s come back to us and done a really nice job. It doesn’t always show up big in the stat sheet, but he’s a guy I trust a lot and a guy who’s made some timely plays for us. So (I’m) really proud of him and all the other guys who’ve stepped in.”"
