Continuing on in our series Re-sign or Let Go & Prediction series, where we take a look at each of the Green Bay Packers’ 14 unrestricted free agents, is cornerback Chandon Sullivan.

As is the case with each NFL team, not all of their unrestricted free agents will return, and given the Packers salary cap situation, it becomes much more difficult to decipher who will stay and who will be playing elsewhere.

In this series, I will be taking a look at why the Green Bay Packers will bring back a player, why it might make sense to let them walk, and I’ll make a prediction at the end. If you’ve missed any of the previous articles in this series, you can find them below.

Why the Green Bay Packers would keep Chandon Sullivan

One big reason that the Green Bay Packers would bring Chandon Sullivan back is that their cornerback room is incredibly thin at the moment.

Sure, having Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes is a great one-two punch at the position, but the only other cornerbacks under contract currently are Shemar Jean-Charles, Kabion Ento, and Kiondre Thomas. Combined, that trio has 38 career defensive snaps, all of which belong to Jean-Charles.

On top of that, Sullivan has been a decent slot cornerback for the most part. According to PFF ($$), out of 41 eligible slot corners last season, Sullivan finished fourth in snaps per reception, he tied for third in snaps per target, and 10th in yards per snap allowed–all of which are improvements from the 2020 season. He would go on to record an interception, four pass breakups, and a 91.3 passer rating as well.

Also, it’s not as if bringing Sullivan back is going to break the bank either. Even for the capped-strapped Green Bay Packers, it’s likely a contract they can fit on the books with relative ease.
