Boyle has showcased a strong arm, but his accuracy has been sporadic. So far, he’s completed only 50 percent of his passes with most of them coming from a clean pocket. We saw a decrease from his 15 pass attempts against the Tennessee Titans to seven attempts this past Thursday facing the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Boyle is still below Brett Hundley and DeShone Kizer on the depth chart due to his rawness and inexperience. Hundley and Kizer are better equipped to come in as relief for Aaron Rodgers should the Packers face a similar situation to that of 2017.
Boyle is an ideal practice squad candidate and the likelihood of him beating out two draft picks with NFL starts under their belts was never high to begin with. Given what we’ve seen thus far in the preseason he hasn’t done enough to warrant a spot on the final 53.
