Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: 5 storylines
3. Mike Pettine’s defense
Ever since Mike Pettine was hired as the Packers’ defensive coordinator and effectively replaced Dom Capers, Packers’ fans everywhere have been hailing him as the savior for Green Bay. After all, the last time the Packers had a good defense they won the Super Bowl.

Pettine has been lauded for his approach to the game. He’s a no non-sense coach who will make sure he lets his players know what they’re doing wrong. This is completely the opposite of Capers and is probably a welcome sight from players and fans alike.
However, fans were somewhat disappointed and calling for Pettine to be fired (a slight exaggeration on my part) after Green Bay gave up an opening drive touchdown to the Titans last week. Thankfully, the defense was able to settle down and only allow 10 points the rest of the way.
Regardless, all eyes will be on the defense and how Pettine schemes it against the Steelers. Both fortunately and unfortunately, don’t expect to see much from Pettine as far as his scheme goes. He will keep it very vanilla and save the good stuff for the regular season.
