Murphy gave up a strip sack off the left edge to an unsuspecting Hundley and Bell allowed pressure to come off the right side and force an interception after tipping the ball. Even besides those two plays, neither tackle was impressive.
Jason Spriggs surprisingly came off the bench and fared better with the second unit. However, it’s unfair to judge his performance against clearly lesser players. It will be most interesting to see if he gets a chance with the 1s against Pittsburgh.
The hope is that both Bakhtiari and Bulaga will be able to stay healthy all season so the Packers can have their best offensive line out there. However, that may be somewhat unrealistic, meaning Green Bay must develop at least one of the tackles behind their two starters. This game will be incredibly important for one of the three tackles to separate themselves from the pack and show they can at least hold their own on the line.
