Minnesota Vikings: Week 2 and 12

The Minnesota Vikings, who some say won the off-season with the signing of Kirk Cousins, are my dark horse favorite to come out the NFC this year and make it to the Super Bowl.

More from Green Bay Packers

That’s if Cousins doesn’t stink it up in Minnesota. Week 2 and 12 the Packers take on the Vikings.

The Vikings won both meetings last season against the Packers by a combined 29 points. Including a 16-0 shutout at Lambeau Field. Not to take away from their top-ranked defense but that game featured a Rodgers-less Packers team due to a broken collarbone in he suffered in Week 6 against this same Vikings team at the hands of Anthony Barr.

I fully expect these to be “payback” type games for Rodgers, but the Packers still don’t have a proven running back. The Vikings wont be scared to constantly pressure Rodgers and force him out of the pocket to make plays which he is perfectly capable of doing, just not a full game’s worth.

The Vikings defensive line is TOUGH. More so since adding Sheldon Richardson. Don’t be surprised if the Vikings defense does even better this year, but their first test of the season will be against this Rodgers led Packers squad.

It’s also worth noting that the last time Rodgers and Cousins faced off, Cousins won that match-up 42-24 as a member of the Redskins. Don’t be surprised if the Vikings win both games this season even with a healthy Rodgers.

Prediction: Packers and Vikings each win one. Record: 2-2
