5. DeShone Kizer

Hopefully, Green Bay never has to see DeShone Kizer on the field except for in garbage-time, blow out victories. No offense to Kizer, of course.

More from Green Bay Packers

Green Bay wants Rodgers to stay healthy and stay on the field as much as possible in order to maximize their chance of returning to the playoffs and the Super Bowl. But if he does go down, Kizer could play a huge role in keeping them afloat, something Brett Hundley couldn’t do last year.

Kizer started 15 games for the Cleveland Browns last season. Although he went winless (0-15), he is unquestionably more talented than Hundley. He possessed better athleticism, better arm strength and better throwing accuracy.

By now, we all know Green Bay thought about drafting Kizer with their first selection in the 2017 draft so it’s not a huge surprise they traded Damarious Randall for him. He’s also under team control for another three seasons as compared to Hundley’s one.

The hope is Kizer can develop into a reliable backup and borderline starter in the NFL in order to protect the Packers from another disastrous season a la 2017.
