Green Bay Packers: 5 biggest remaining needs at the rookie orientation camp
The Green Bay Packers had a successful NFL Draft, but still have a lot of work to do. Here are there top 5 biggest remaining needs at the Rookie Minicamp.
The Green Bay Packers began their Rookie Orientation Camp on Friday, May 4 and continue it through the weekend, ending on Sunday, May 6. This camp is a great way for head coach Mike McCarthy and his staff to begin evaluating the talent they drafted and signed in the past couple of weeks.
Given all of Green Bay’s glaring needs heading into the offseason, they seemed to have addressed a couple of them.

Most notably, the cornerback position. New general manager Brian Gutekunst picked cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Joshua Jackson with his first two selections. Both guys are extremely talented ball-hawks and should vie for playing time right away.
Gutekunst then selected Oren Burks, a linebacker, in the third round. Burks might not have as much of an immediate impact, but is considered a specialist. He should be able to earn some playing time as an inside linebacker on passing situations. His role will most-likely be to cover backs and tight ends.
After him, the field is wide open. Green Bay elected to take three big-bodied wide receivers, an offensive lineman, a punter, a long-snapper and a defensive lineman. They then signed a plethora of players as undrafted free agents.
With a lot of unknowns (per usual) at the beginning part of May, let’s examine the five biggest remaining needs the Packers need to figure by the time the summer is over.
