First-round prospects Packers should avoid in NFL Draft: Luke Musgrave, Tight End

The Packers should avoid drafting a tight end in the first round at all costs. It’s not a premium position in today’s game, no matter how much Matt LaFleur likes to have a tight end who can block and catch passes as part of his offense. This draft, especially, is deep at the position and a quality player can be had on Day 2 if it means that much to them.

With that being said, I fully expect the Packers to select one early and wouldn’t be surprised if it happens to be with their top pick (even if I disagree with the premise).

Musgrave is a project and will take a couple of years to develop. He only had 47 catches for 633 yards and two touchdowns in his COLLEGIATE CAREER. His season-highs came in 2021 when he caught 22 passes for 304 yards and one touchdown. He missed most of last season with a knee injury. The Packers are extremely thin at tight end and need someone who can immediately contribute. Musgrave is not him.
