The Green Bay Packers have a lot of work to do in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft. With ten current selections, including the 15th overall pick, They’ll have the ammunition to close some of the massive holes that exist on their roster.

The Packers have primarily targeted defensive players in the first round–with 11 of their last 12 first-round selections coming on that side of the ball (Jordan Love was the lone exception). That could be a possibility again this year, as several quality edge rushers project to be available and could help Green Bay’s immediate depth and long-term plan.

It could also be the first time the Packers use a first-round selection on a wide receiver since they selected Javon Walker in 2002 or on a tight end since they picked Bubba Franks in 2000.

Although there are plenty of options, there are some players they should avoid in the first round.

The Green Bay Packers have several holes to fill and should avoid these three prospects in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

First-round prospects Packers should avoid in NFL Draft: Zay Flowers, Wide Receiver

Flowers checks all of the athletic boxes–he’s fast, quick and explosive–something the Packers look for in their receivers. The biggest knock on him is that he’s only 5-foot-9. That knock alone should be enough for Green Bay to stay away from him in the first. He could become a gadget player in the NFL and someone unworthy of a top pick. There are better choices that should be available.
