Positions Packers should still target in free agency: Outside linebacker

The depth at outside linebacker might be even more concerning than either cornerback or safety. Preston Smith and Rashan Gary are, once again, one of the best duos in the NFL. However, they play far fewer snaps than the cornerbacks or safeties due to the intense nature of their position. That leaves more need for rotational players to get on the field.

Green Bay would love for at least a third outside linebacker to emerge from the field, but that seems doubtful at this point. They don’t really have a high-upside, unknown player on their roster. Perhaps, that inspires confidence that Gutekunst knows his guys can play because he didn’t make a move at the position this offseason. We’ll see how it shakes out, but they could certainly use a veteran player at the backend of his career to fill the gap.
