Positions Packers should still target in free agency: Safety

The Packers’ issues at cornerback are exacerbated by their depth concerns at safety as well. Adrian Amos is quietly one of the best safeties in the league and probably one of the most underrated ones. Darnell Savage has all the potential in the world, but hasn’t quite lived up to his hype. Plus, he’s coming off a down season.

Behind them, there’s absolutely nobody. Innis Gaines had a decent training camp last year and Shawn Davis has preseason hype behind him, but neither guy is reliable at this point. Savage has some ability to slide into the slot when necessary, but that means another safety would have to step into his position. It’s clear Green Bay needs to find/add depth somewhere in the secondary considering the emphasis on passing in today’s NFL.
