We have reached the end of the rookie preview series. I began by taking a close look at each of the Green Bay Packers’ draft picks, along with each undrafted rookie that they signed.

To round this series out, I will be taking a closer look at Oregon offensive lineman George Moore. In this article, I will take a closer look at the current state of the Packers’ offensive line, what you need to know about Moore’s career, and what the pre-draft report has to say.

If you’ve missed any of the other Green Bay Packers’ UDFA preview articles, they can be found below:

The current state of the Green Bay Packers’ offensive line

Moore does have tackle experience during his time at Oregon, but he is listed as a guard on the Packers website. Either way, cracking the 53-man roster for any undrafted offensive lineman is going to be a tall task.

As thin as the offensive line unit looked before the draft, it is currently loaded with competition. Competing for playing time at the guard positions will be Royce Newman, Jon Runyan, Zach Tom, and Sean Rhyan–not to mention that Cole Van Lanen, Jake Hanson, and Josh Myers can all play guard as well.

At tackle, David Bakhtiari, and my guess is Elgton Jenkins, will be the two starters when healthy, but other candidates for those roles include Van Lanen, Rhyan, Tom, Rasheed Walker, Yosh Nijman, and even Royce Newman has taken some right tackle snaps in OTAs.

As you can see, this is a versatile and deep roster along the offensive line. At this time, I would consider Bakhtiari, Runyan, Myers, Newman, Nijman, Tom, and Rhyan as locks. When Jenkins is healthy, that’s eight roster spots accounted for–so at most, there is only one or two roster spots up for grabs this summer if the Packers keep nine linemen as they have previously.

What to know about Moore’s college career

Moore was a sixth-year senior in 2021 but appeared in only 29 games over his career with 912 total snaps–and 13 of those games along with 581 of those offensive snaps all came last season.

As I mentioned above, Moore does have tackle experience with 536 snaps at left tackle and another 142 at right tackle. The other 234 of his snaps came at left guard and none at center–although it will be interesting to see if Green Bay gives him an opportunity there.

This last season, where the bulk of his playing time occurred, Moore was responsible for four sacks and 18 pressures, according to PFF ($$), in just 288 pass-blocking snaps. For what it’s worth, Moore graded out as a much better run-blocker than a pass-blocker, where his efficiency rating was just 95.9.

He was also on the field for only 110 career special teams snaps, all of which came on the field goal kicking team.

Athletically speaking, Moore posted a RAS of 5.39 out of 10, and he stands nearly 6’6″ and weighs 312 pounds. He recorded a 40-time of 5.25-seconds and excelled in the 3-cone with a time of 7.6-seconds, although he did struggle in the vertical and broad jumps.

What the pre-draft scouting report has to say

Tony Pauline – Pro Football Network

"“Positives: Nice-sized tackle who quickly sets up off the snap, fires into run blocks, and stays square,” said Pauline. “Sets with a wide base, works to bend his knees, and displays ability as a position blocker. Makes good use of angles and works his hands throughout the action.Negatives: Stiff, struggles to adjust, and gets beaten by quick or speedy pass rushers. Not a dominant run blocker.Analysis: Moore was a solid two-year starter who lined up at both left tackle and guard for Oregon. He’s an average athlete, can only play in a small area, and lacks much upside.”"
