The Green Bay Packers addressed a number of key needs through the first two days of the NFL Draft and are entering Day 3 with six more selections ahead of them. Before we move forward, however, let’s take a moment to see what the Packers have done so far.

Green Bay stood pat on Day 1 despite the rest of the NFL seemingly trading up to grab their preferred target. With the Packers desperately needing a wide receiver, they naturally went with two defensive players.

Then, right when fans were in a frenzy, they traded their two second-round selections to move all the way up to 34th overall and grabbed that coveted receiver. They concluded Day 2 with a boring, but necessary component to their team–an offensive lineman. Let’s take a quick glance at who they’ve drafted so far.

Let’s quickly review who the Green Bay Packers drafted on Days one and two and what still likes ahead for them on Day Three.

Round 1, Pick 22: Quay Walker, Inside Linebacker, Georgia

The Packers zigged when everyone thought they would zag, grabbing inside linebacker Quay Walker with the 22nd overall pick. Walker brings elite athleticism (something every single one of their draft picks has in common so far) to the inside linebacker position and gives them a great one-two punch with De’Vondre Campbell. It will be fun to see that tandem fly around the field.

Round 1, Pick 29: Devonte Wyatt, Defensive Tackle, Georgia

Green Bay went all in on defense in the first round, by doubling up on that side of the ball with Devonte Wyatt. Wyatt will give Kenny Clark a capable running mate on the defensive line and the duo should be able to wreak havoc on opposing interiors. That should also do wonder for the defensive players behind them.

Round 2, Pick 34: Christian Watson, Wide Receiver, North Dakota State

The Packers probably gave up too much to move up and select Christian Watson, but it’s clear they believe in him. Although he’s raw and needs to develop his fundamentals, Watson has a sky-high ceiling if everything comes together. He has great size at 6-foot-4 and is freakishly fast. It might take some time for him to adjust to the NFL level after playing collegiately at North Dakota State.

Round 3, Pick 92: Sean Rhyan, Offensive Line, UCLA

Sean Rhyan might not get all the headlines the rest of this class does, but this was a low-key great pick for the Packers. He played left tackle for three years at UCLA, but projects as a guard in the NFL. That’s fine with the Packers who may very well bounce Elgton Jenkins out to right tackle, creating a hole at guard for the upcoming season.

Next. Good, bad and grade from Packers' first round. dark

What lies ahead on Day 3:

Green Bay has six selections on Day 3 which includes two in the fourth round, one in the fifth and three in the seventh. They’ll likely target an edge rusher, a wide receiver, and another offensive lineman at some point with those picks. Although it’s been a good start to the draft, there’s still a lot of work left to do for a team that has Super Bowl aspirations in 2022.
