With NFL teams preparing in full for the NFL Draft, we continue to take a look at different mock draft scenarios for the Green Bay Packers. After posting editions following the Senior Bowl and the Super Bowl, today we take a look at a draft focused heavily on defensive backs.

Heading into the offseason, Green Bay is set at their starting safety spot with Darnell Savage and Adrian Amos finishing the season strong. However, they do have a need at the third safety position that is sure to receive plenty of playing time under new defensive coordinator Joe Berry. As far as cornerback goes, well, it’s a huge area of need behind Jaire Alexander, as Kevin King is likely gone in free agency. To be clear, the Packers wouldn’t grab all these defensive backs in one draft, but here’s a scenario where Green Bay targets their other needs in free agency and loads up in the draft.

Here’s a seven-round 2021 NFL mock draft where the Green Bay Packers focus heavily on adding defensive backs to their roster.

Packers round 1 (29th overall): Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa

A three-year starter at Tulsa, Zaven Collins won the college football award for the best defensive player a year ago and would be a huge boost for the Packers’ defense. Although they don’t seem to value the inside linebacker position very much, Collins could force them to change their mind. He can do just about everything on the football field including stop the run, cover backs and tight ends and rush the passer. He’d be an immediate boost in the middle of the defense.
