Projecting what the Green Bay Packers depth chart at center could look like heading into training camp of the 2020 season.

Dairyland Express has been projecting every position ahead of the Green Bay Packers‘ training camp that’s supposed to start at the end of July. You can check them out at the site here. Today, we wrap up this side of the ball by previewing the center position.

Heading into Training Camp, center is fairly solid across the board. There’s not a lot of turnover at the top of the depth chart, meaning Aaron Rodgers should continue to be familiar with the guys he’s receiving snaps from.

Corey Linsley is quietly one of the better centers in the entire NFL. He’s strong in the run game and holds his own in pass protection. Since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, he’s started 86 games at center over the last six years. An impressive feat for a mid-to-late round selection.

Linsley is set to become a free agent in 2021 and the Packers will have a tough decision on their hands. Green Bay also has to pony up money for a number of other top free agents including fellow offensive lineman David Bakhtiari, as well as running back Aaron Jones, cornerback Kevin King and defensive lineman Kenny Clark.

If Linsley’s services aren’t retained, Lucas Patrick could be positioned to take over as the starting snapper. He signed an extension last year that goes through 2021 and he’s proven to be extremely versatile. He was also mentioned in the offensive guards projections because he’s truly one of the top backups for all three interior offensive line positions.

Green Bay is also curious to see what they have in Jake Hanson. Hanson was selected in the sixth round of this year’s draft. He had a very solid career at Oregon and should make a strong push to make the final roster in his rookie season. If he develops as hoped, he could become the starting center in 2021 or 2022.
