3. Mike Daniels

One of Clark’s fellow defensive lineman, Daniels is not only underpaid but also underrated. He ranks as the 13th highest paid defensive tackle. At his position, he outperformed six of the 12 players paid more than he is per Pro Football Focus. He also made his first Pro Bowl last season, which should be the first of many. Defensive tackle is a well-stocked position in the NFL, and Daniels is one of that group.

His speed and power are rare for a player at his short stature. His low center of gravity makes his spin move one of his most effective weapons in pass rush. He can set that up with his bullrush that pushes blockers back into a quarterback’s lap. Run defense is Daniels main strength. With Wilkerson and Clark next to him, he will be the run defense linchpin. Sacks are what earn the big money, but Daniels earned his money with his run defense prowess.

Daniels extension assured that he would be with the Packers for the remainder of his prime. The cheap deal that he signed has allowed the Packers management group to sign more key players to major deals. Players such as Corey Linsley and Davante Adams received major extensions that paid them their worth. Daniels could be the MVP of the defense this season, or he could be the unsung hero. Bottom line, he’ll give top production at an average price.
