2. Aaron Jones

Aaron Jones was one of the top running backs in the NFL last season, albeit in a very limited snap basis. If he had played at his level for an entire reason, he would have ranked as the 7th overall running per Pro Football Focus. Per Spotrac, he’s the 103rd highest-paid running back this season. Once he returns from his suspension, Jones should become the lead back and one of the top backs in the NFL.

The Packers will be getting him at a severe discount. If he’s able to remain healthy all season, he will make a strong case for making his own first Pro Bowl. Last season, he broke onto the scene against the Dallas Cowboys. Once Rodgers went down, Jones was going to be the bell cow for this team. His injury sapped him of some crucial time as the lead back. When he returns, the team will most likely give him the lead job, but he’ll have to take a firm grasp not to lose it.

Running back is a position with mostly underpaid players. Only Todd Gurley of the Rams has an annual average salary over 8.25 million. Le’Veon Bell continues to hold out. Jones has the ability to be one of the top 5 backs this season. He’ll give them that level of production at an extreme discount. Only Alex Collins, Jay Ajayi and Jordan Howard are projected to be paid less than Jones while handling a similar workload. Discounts like this are rare, and the Packers will gladly take it.
