The Green Bay Packers were facing a level of questioning at the quarterback position they hadn't in recent years after the team's tough start. Heading into Sunday, there was legitimate reason to question Jordan Love even if the numbers themselves weren't suggesting serious anxiety. Packers fans watching closely understood that the slowed production was due to an offensive line that allowed Love to take far too much punishment, and left the quarterback shaken early in games, and didn't allow the offense to reach its full potential.

Sunday's 31-7 win over the Chicago Bears flipped this script just when Love needed a season-defining performance most. The quarterback finished the game 25/31 for 367 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns, putting on an absolute masterclass at the position. A Chicago defense that had been incredibly hot had zero answers and was consistently toasted by Love.

The quarterback hit Tucker Kraft, Christian Watson, and Matthew Golden for big plays while hitting seven different receivers in all. What made the day so impressive is the fact that head coach Matt LaFleur clearly changed his approach and let off the gas well before the end of the contest. Love would've easily passed for over 400 yards and had an even more impressive stat line if the situation demanded it.

For Love, it was a steadying performance that was needed after the offensive line had left a concern about the quarterback's confidence. Sunday was a response that left zero questions about whether or not elite expectations are fair for the signal caller moving forward.

Jordan Love Offers Season-Defining Performance When the Packers Needed it Most

The only downside to Love's epic day is the fact that it didn't come against Caleb Williams, starting as the Bears starter remained sidelined with a hamstring injury. Still, this is a Chicago defense led by defensive coordinator Dennis Allen that had only allowed a combined 19 points over the previous two games. Love may not have put on a show with Williams in the lineup, but it was against a hot defense that left no reason to doubt the importance of this performance.

Green Bay's only concern moving forward is continuing to scheme adequate protection to get this version of the quarterback moving forward. So much of what held the Packers back in the early weeks of the season was simply an inability for Love to get past his first read or be able to step up in the pocket and deliver a deep strike.

All of this changed on Sunday, and with it came a performance that set the tone for what expectations are moving forward. This is the version of the Green Bay offense that fans have come to expect, one that has a chance to continue to build on this and go on a potentially deep January run.

No question, Love steadied the franchise and gave the team a much-needed statement win. One that should build momentum towards becoming an elite NFC contender and remind the league of Love's continued elite ceiling.
