Pros and Cons to Packers Trading Away Rasul Douglas
Pro: More Salary Flexibility
The Packers are clearly in rebuilding mode, and it’s unlikely they’ll be ready to compete next season. That means the next year and a half of Douglas’s contract, the only time he has remaining on his current deal, would be wasted on a team that isn’t set to compete until at least 2025.
Trading Douglas gives the Packers about $860,00 of additional cap room this season and another $6.5 million in 2024. Green Bay will still need to make more financial moves during the offseason to sign their draft class and make any other moves. Trading Douglas jumpstart that process and gives them a draft pick in return.
