Most Intriguing Packers: Darnell Savage

Darnell Savage began this season in a somewhat precarious position for the Packers. His performance had dipped over recent seasons, but the team retained him because there weren’t clear-cut better options available.

With his contract expiring at the end of this season, Savage has much to prove to both the Packers and the broader NFL audience. His journey through the first two games has already been quite the roller coaster. In the season opener against the Chicago Bears, he stood out with 10 tackles and no misses. However, he had a poor outing in the Atlanta Falcons game, missing two tackles and struggling in run support.

It’s a challenging situation for Green Bay, which relies on Savage to lead the back half of the secondary. This reliance is concerning given his performance, which had placed him among the lower-tier safeties in the league last year.
