The Milwaukee Brewers are trying to maintain their slim hold on first place during a brutal stretch in their schedule.

They finished a three-game homestand against the Cincinnati Reds where the Crew took two of three. The Reds are still nipping at the Brew Crew’s heels in the standings.

The Crew has to play against the Atlanta Braves, the best team in baseball, in Atlanta this weekend.

The pitching has been up to the task while the offense is still holding down the team’s title hopes.

Although, Christian Yelich and William Contreras are red-hot at the plate. Yelich was the hero Monday night when he drove in the game-winning run to take Game 1 against the Reds.

The Crew needed a three-run bomb from Yeli in the ninth to finally get some offense. It was not enough as the Reds took Game 2. The batting order managed three runs in Game 3 to win, but it needed Freddy Peralta to shut out the Reds to gain the victory.

Last weekend’s series against the Braves proved that the Crew will need more offense if they hope to get past Atlanta in October. This current series against the Reds has shown that the offense could keep the Brewers from the postseason again.

The organization’s second-best prospect, Sal Frelick, was called up to hopefully give the lineup better production from the right fielder position.

He has already made an impact in just a couple of games.

The team just traded for Carlos Santana to upgrade the offensive production out of first base.

The Milwaukee Brewers still need better output from the DH. Jesse Winker was the primary designated hitter, but he struggled before being benched and was then placed on the IL.

An upgrade at third base or second base could also help boost the offense. The team’s front office loves to add a bullpen arm before the trade deadline. It could another southpaw in the pen.

Luckily, a team about 90 miles south is looking to sell at the deadline.

The Chicago White Sox are rumored to be ready to offload any players on their roster not named Dylan Cease, Andrew Vaughn, Eloy Jimenez, or Luis Robert Jr.

They already traded pitcher Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez to the Los Angeles.

The Sox have four players the Milwaukee Brewers should try to acquire to stave off the Reds and make some noise in the playoffs.
