Milwaukee Brewers have four prospects in MLB’s Top 100 rankings
By Todd Welter
The Milwaukee Brewers want to make sure they have plenty of bites at the postseason apple.
Having a good crop of prospects is one way to make sure a small market club like the Brew Crew has a shot at long-term success.
The Crew’s farm system has grown in depth from 2020 when it was ranked dead last. It is now up to 13th according to Baseball America.
MLB.com just released its updated Top 100 prospect rankings and the Brewers now have four players listed.
Outfielder Jackson Chourio is rated as the third-best prospect in all of baseball.
Although, Chourio has a good chance of moving up to the No. 2 spot once Elly De La Cruz loses his prospect status since it does not look like the Cincinnati Reds are going to be sending him back down to the minors.
Jackson does not lack confidence as he believes he is the best prospect in baseball.
He is going to make general manager Matt Arnold’s job difficult in the offseason as he could be ready for the Majors in 2024. The outfield is already crowded with Christian Yelich, Joey Wiemer, and Garrett Mitchell (currently out for the season) on the 26-man roster.
His ceiling is so high that there might not just be one. Although, he is human as evidenced by a slump in May
Jackson is currently hitting .252 with 10 home runs and 46 RBI at Double-A Biloxi.
His on-base percentage is down this season at .308, but he is slugging .416 and has a .724 OPS.
Chourio is on his way to the All-Star Futures Game, and he will be joined by a couple of fellow Milwaukee Brewers prospects that are in the top 100.
Pitcher Jacob Misiorowski and catcher Jeferson Quero made the NL All-Star Futures Game roster.
Misiorowski cracked the top 100 at No. 92.
The flamethrower has been nearly unhittable at High-A Wisconsin. He has a 1.15 ERA in four games to go along with 20 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .134 this season against him (that is between Low-A and High-A ball). His fastball has reached 100 mph.

Misiorowski has displaced Robert Gasser as the organization’s top pitching prospect. He is 21 and not projected to be wearing a Milwaukee Brewers uniform until 2025.
Quero is 78th on the top 100 prospect list. He is hitting .265 with a .813 OPS at Double-A Biloxi. He has jacked ten home runs this season.
The 20-year-old catcher is projected to crack the Milwaukee Brewers lineup in 2024.
Sal Frelick is back from injury and MLB.com has him as a top-20 prospect. Frelick went from being the 22nd-best prospect to 19th in the latest ranking and he missed a significant portion of the season with a thumb injury.
Frelick could make his way onto the big-league roster sometime this season. Until then, he is working himself back into the lineup at Triple-A Nashville.
