Devonte Wyatt and T.J. Slaton step up

There is a changing of guard along the defensive line this season. Green Bay allowed veterans Dean Lowry and Jarran Reed to walk in free agency and will be turning to youngsters Devonte Wyatt and T.J. Slaton to play significant snaps alongside Kenny Clark.

The defensive line has been an area of weakness for the Packers for a while now. Despite Clark being a great lineman, they’ve been unable to control the line of scrimmage. They’re often blown back, while massive holes are created up front.

Wyatt, last year’s first-round pick, and Slaton, a 2021 fifth-round selection, hope to change that this season. They were great in the team portion, often slicing and powering their way into the backfield. They need to make that a regular part of their game if the defense is going to stop underachieving.
