Ranking Milwaukee Bucks 3 finalists for head coach
Ranking Bucks head coach finalists: Kenny Atkinson
I’d be fine with either of these next two candidates being selected as the next head coach, however, Atkinson comes in at no. 2.
The biggest knock on Atkinson is that he doesn’t have a history of success as the lead man. He has just a 118-190 record (38.3 percent win percentage) with the Brooklyn Nets in four years. It’s important to note he took over right after the debacle with the Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett trade.
He has some creative ideas on offense and showed the ability to coach a top-10 defense in Brooklyn. He is an analytically-focused coach, helping to maximize the most efficient spots on the floor. He’s also spent time under some of the best minds in basketball, including Steve Kerr, Ty Lue, Mike Budenholzer, and Mike D’Antoni. The potential is there for his second gig to be a very successful one.
