Dream free agents for Packers: Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Slot Cornerback/Safety

If the tight end position is in transition, the safety position is a complete mess. It fell apart quickly, as Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage hit rock bottom in 2022 and have questionable futures. Amos is an unrestricted free agent and Savage is entering the final year of his contract.

Green Bay could try to make a splash in free agency by signing someone. It’s a deep position in this year’s class, as PFF has 14 safeties ranked in their top 100 free agents.

Gardner-Johnson isn’t a true safety, but could fill one of the Packers’ positions. He was a former slot cornerback turned safety in Philadelphia and could play the same role in Green Bay. He led the NFL in interceptions last year with six despite missing five games. That’s the type of defensive playmaking the Packers need to add.
