With free agency less than a month away (the legal tampering period begins on March 13th and the new league year begins on March 15th), the Green Bay Packers have several major decisions to make.

Their first order is to cut money from their 2023 salary cap and get into legal standing. They’ve already begun by reworking Aaron Jones’ contract, saving about $12 million off their 2023 cap in the process. This added a void year in 2027, but it helps the immediate future.

They’ll have to take a look at the contracts of David Bakhtiari, Preston Smith, Rasul Douglas, De’Vondre Campbell and Pat O’Donnell if they want to maximize their 2023 savings. If they make all of those moves, they could have up to $20 million to sign free agents.

That brings us to five dream targets they should pursue in 2023 free agency.

The Green Bay Packers should take a long, hard look at these five players who would be dream targets in 2023 free agency.

Dream free agents for Packers: Dalton Schultz, Tight End

Green Bay’s tight end position is in transition. Marcedes Lewis and Robert Tonyan are free agents and they don’t have a long-term option on their roster. Schultz is the best free agent tight end available. He’s a decent receiver for his position, but he can also help by blocking in the run game. That’s a huge plus and something the Packers value. He could be a stopgap to a long-term option.
