Pro: Open playing time for Jordan Love

Love hasn’t seen much of the field during his NFL career, but he’s been impressive of late. When he stepped in for an injured Rodgers against the Philadelphia Eagles, there was a noticeable improvement in his arm strength, accuracy and command of the game.

Defensive players like De’Vondre Campbell have also talked publicly about how they believe Love would start for several NFL teams. That’s a huge endorsement. Any Rodgers trade would immediately make Love the starter and open playing time for the youngster.

Con: End of an era

On the flip side, it will also be sad to see the end of an era. Rodgers has been the Packers’ starting quarterback since 2008 and has been a part of some great teams along the way. Of course, Green Bay won the Super Bowl in 2011 (and has underachieved since) and Rodgers has won four MVPs. He’s become the face of a franchise as the Packers are one of the only teams in NFL history to successfully transition from one future Hall of Fame quarterback immediately to another.
