The Green Bay Packers have more talent than their 3-2 record suggests. However, due to players not living up to expectations and coach’s not putting them in positions to succeed, they’re floundering to begin the season.

Defensive coordinator Joe Barry appears set to mix up his passive defensive schemes and allow his players to be aggressive and attack their opponents. That would be a welcomed change after they’ve sat back in zones to begin the season and watch offenses tear them apart.

Green Bay’s offense, on the other hand, has been wildly inconsistent. Last week’s game was a perfect example: They put up 20 first-half points before failing to score in the second half. They have some young players they’re trying to bring along, but playcalling has also been a concern.

If the Packers decide they want to add talent to their team, here are four players they should trade for.

The Green Bay Packers need a talent infusion and should pursue any of these four players who could be available via a trade.

Robbie Anderson, Carolina Panthers, WR

The Panthers have sexier trade candidates such as Brian Burns and D.J. Moore, but they will also be much more expensive to acquire. If Carolina is willing to eat a bunch of Robbie Anderson’s salary, the Packers should poke around about his price tag for a trade. Anderson has elite speed and could provide Green Bay with another player who can challenge the secondary, especially since Christian Watson’s health is in the air.

Robert Quinn, Chicago Bears, EDGE

It might be difficult for division rivals to make a trade, but it’s clear Chicago needs to dive deeper into their rebuild. Chicago fell to 2-4 on the season following an embarrassing loss to Washington on Thursday night. After lighting the world on fire in 2021, Robert Quinn only has one sack and two quarterback hits through six games. The Packers need outside linebacker depth with Rashan Gary’s toe a concern. Sounds like a match on Green Bay’s end!

Kenny Golladay, New York Giants, WR

Kenny Golladay is another wide receiver the Packers should target in a trade. If they can get New York to eat most of his salary, it’s a no-brainer for Green Bay. Watson could be headed to the IR with a hamstring injury and Sammy Watkins is already there for the same reason. Allen Lazard, Romeo Doubs, and Randall Cobb can’t do it all by themselves.

Clelin Ferrell, Las Vegas Raiders, EDGE

The former fourth-overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft has failed to live up to his high draft status and could use a change of scenery to jumpstart his career. He’s a free agent next year so could be had very cheaply and would immediately be the third-best edge player on the Packers’ roster. He has zero sacks through five games this year and only 3.5 the previous two years combined so don’t expect too much from him. However, he’s worth a flyer considering Green Bay’s sorry depth.
