It’s the most exciting time of the year for fans of Major League Baseball, including the Milwaukee Brewers. There’s almost nothing in sports that stacks up to a pennant race.

Fans of the Milwaukee Brewers are in a stressful position, with the team 1.5 games back of the Philadelphia Phillies for the final Wild Card spot. The team also stands two games behind the San Diego Padres in the race. Despite the standings, the schedule favors the Brewers much more than it seems.

Schedule favors the Milwaukee Brewers as they make a run at the 2022 postseason

The first thing to discuss here is the Brewers’ schedule directly. The Brewers will play one game in Cincinnati on Sunday before playing their final nine games at American Family Field. The first two at home will come against St. Louis, but the last seven games come against two teams with a losing record as they face Arizona and Miami.

The Padres have three tough matchups to finish the season against the Dodgers, White Sox, and Giants. Only the Dodgers look intimidating on paper, but the White Sox and Giants might be able to take it to an extra level to play spoiler.

The Phillies are the team Milwaukee would most likely catch in the race. They finish their season with ten consecutive away games, including their final series being in Houston.

The only thing not favorable to Milwaukee with Philadelphia’s schedule is that their next two series’ after Sunday will be against the Chicago Cubs and Washington. However, if there’s one thing we know about sports, it’s always hard to win on the road, regardless of who your opponent is.

Ultimately, it’ll be up to the Milwaukee Brewers to take care of their own business. It’s a cliché, but it’s also true that anything can happen. As long as Milwaukee continues to win, they can put pressure on San Diego and Philadelphia.

We’ve seen the Brewers make some spectacular late-season runs throughout the Craig Counsell era. Counsell has been so incredible down the stretch that Brewers fans have started to refer to the final month of the season as Craigtember.

The Brewers are also starting to get all their reinforcements as they make their final run at the last Wild Card spot. In the past week, the team has seen Aaron Ashby, Eric Lauer, and Freddy Peralta return from injury. The Brewers’ pitching returning to full strength will be huge, considering it’s the foundation of their team.

The Brewers currently have a 31.3 percent chance to make the playoffs, per FanGraphs. Although that number actually is the 30.7 percent chance that FanGraphs is giving them to clinch a Wild Card Spot because, I’m sorry to break your dreams, there’s not a chance that Milwaukee can catch St. Louis in these next ten games.

It’s my favorite time of the year and one of the best times for fans of any sport. There’s a lot of excitement coming over the next week couple of weeks. Let’s enjoy the ride, Brewers fans, and hope the team can sneak in.
