4 Big things and other notes from Packers v. Saints matchup

It’s a roller coaster ride at WR for the Packers
When relying on young players at any position to make an impact, there are going to be ups and downs. So what we are seeing at the wide receiver position shouldn’t be surprising. In fact, one could argue that it’s expected.
But with that said, that doesn’t mean that it should be tolerated or things that can’t improve. Earlier this week, Aaron Rodgers called out the wide receiver play, in short, saying that they need to be more consistent.
Well, on Friday night, we still road that roller coaster. Samori Toure couldn’t come down with the catch on the deep ball from Love, while Amari Rodgers had one drop and another in tight coverage that he could have been more aggressive going after.
Doubs once again had a fantastic night, but on a downfield pass on the opening drive, he didn’t adjust to the ball correctly, and it fell incomplete. He had another drop on a crosser over the middle.
Once it was all said and done, Matt LaFleur counted five dropped passes against the Saints–not all by these three receivers, however.
During minicamp, Rodgers talked about the importance of production over potential, as we all know how important reliability is to him. This is why early on in the season, we could see Sammy Watkins, Allen Lazard, and Randall Cobb get the bulk of the playing time as well as the targets.
However, Doubs needs to be included in that group as well. Since he has stepped foot in Green Bay, he has made plays. There have also been a number of drops, but the Packers and Rodgers will need to be okay with that happening to a degree because when Doubs finds that consistency, watch out.
