The Green Bay Packers completed their first preseason game of 2022 on Friday night against the San Francisco 49ers.

There were a lot of noteworthy  performances, but I put an added emphasis on players who are fighting for a roster spot in some capacity when it came to making the Big 3.

So with that said, here are the three big winners from that game, along with a few other notable performances.

Green Bay Packers RB Tyler Goodson

Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon will be the workhorses at the running back position, while Kylin Hill seems firmly cemented in that third running back role. However, what we don’t know is when Hill will return, and until then, that job is up for grabs.

Throughout the training camp practices against a stout and deep interior defensive line group, none of these running backs have really stood out. But based on snap counts, it would appear that Tyler Goodson is in the driver’s seat.

Goodson was an undrafted rookie from Iowa with experience as a pass-catcher in addition to being a ball carrier–which we know is important to this Matt LaFleur offense.

Goodson finished the game with 12 carries for 37 yards — there wasn’t much daylight created by the offensive line — and two receptions for 24 yards, with 23 coming on a screen per ESPN.

We have seen excellent burst and speed from Goodson with the ball in his hands and playmaking potential. It was an impressive debut for the rookie.
