It was a rough month to the start of June for the Milwaukee Brewers and finished with some challenging opponents over the second half. However, Milwaukee was able to salvage that month and stockpile some wins. They now sit at 48-38 with a 3.5-game lead over St. Louis.

The trade deadline this season is a few days later, on August 2nd, and as they often are under David Stearns, the Brewers should once again be active.

While finding a more consistent bat should take priority, there really isn’t a position on this team — outside of catcher — that the Brewers shouldn’t consider adding to. Centerfield may be the biggest hole, but if the Crew can find a better bat at an infield position, they need to take advantage.

The starting rotation has largely carried Milwaukee, but they will still be without Freddy Peralta for some time, and while Chi Chi Gonzalez and Jason Alexander have provided the Brewers with some solid innings, there are upgrades out there–not to mention that Adrian Houser has struggled as well. It’s also worth noting that this Brewers rotation was at its best when working with six pitchers.

When it comes to the bullpen, we should just assume that Stearns will make an addition or two there–something he does every season.

So with all of that in mind and a variety of needs that Stearns could choose to target, here is one starting pitcher, one bullpen arm, and one bat for the Brewers to pursue prior to the trade deadline.
