The Wisconsin Football program remains hot on the recruiting trail, picking up their 12th and 13th commitments for the 2023 recruiting class over the last few days.

What you need to know about the newest members of the Wisconsin Football team

The first of the two commitments came on Sunday from Jamel Howard, a 6’3″ – 320-pound interior defensive lineman from Chicago, Illinois. According to 247Sports, Howard is a three-star prospect, and he will fit right into the middle of that Badgers’ run-stuffing defensive front.

He is the 134th-ranked interior defender in this class and the 27th-ranked prospect in Illinois. In total, Howard had 11 offers, including a few from Illinois and Iowa State.

This is a Badgers defense and defensive front that allowed only 2.12 yards per carry in 2021 and 64.8 yards per game–both of which ranked first in college football. This 2022 season, Wisconsin will be led inside by Keeanu Benton and Curtis Neal.

The other Badger commitment came on Wednesday, from Chris Terek, a three-star offensive lineman, from — you guessed it — Illinois–Glen Ellyn, specifically. Howard and Terek became the fourth and fifth members of Wisconsin’s 2023 class from the state of Illinois.

Terek, who stands 6’5″ – 295 pounds, is the 50th-ranked interior offensive lineman by 247Sports metrics — although he could end up at offensive tackle — and the 16th-ranked player in his state. He had 24 total offers, including several from other Big Ten teams, such as Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, and Minnesota.

As everyone is well aware, Wisconsin has a very rich history of putting offensive linemen in the NFL and is consistently one of the top rushing teams in the nation–both of which have to be enticing aspects for any incoming recruit.

With these two commitments, Wisconsin’s 2023 class now ranks 32nd in the country and ninth in the Big Ten Conference.

In addition to Howard and Terek, the Badgers’ other 11 commitments include Jace Arnold (CB), Jaquez Keyes (RB), James Durand (IOL), Nate White (RB), Tyler Jansey (LB), Roderick Pierce (IDL), Collin Dixon (WR), Jordan Mayer (EDGE), Justin Taylor (ATH), Trech Kekahuna (WR), and AJ Tisdell (CB).
