As we wait for training camp to begin late next month, I thought I would take a swing at predicting the Green Bay Packers 2022 record.

Beyond simply who the Packers play and where, as I wrote in my takeaways article following the release of the schedule, there are several other aspects that can play a role in how a team performs during the season.

For example, beginning with their trip to London in Week 5, the Green Bay Packers have a difficult road stretch from that point through Week 8–and overall, will travel to some challenging road environments. On the back end of the schedule, however, this does mean that they end the season with three of four at Lambeau Field.

It’s also important to note that in terms of rest, there are several games where the Packers will be at a disadvantage with their opponent coming off a bye week or a mini-bye week after playing on Thursday Night Football–not to mention that Green Bay’s own bye week comes very late in the season.

Overall, the Green Bay Packers have the 11th easiest schedule on paper, according to the NFL, but as we all know, games aren’t played on paper. And while ultimately it will come down to how each team performs, the other elements just described do play some sort of factor as well. The big question is, how much?

As I do each offseason, below I do my best to predict the Green Bay Packers’ record for the upcoming season.

Week 1 at Minnesota: Loss (0-1)

Not that Week 1 from a season ago has anything to do with the 2022 season, but we did see the Packers begin slowly. Minnesota has also been a difficult environment to play in, with the Packers winning there just once since 2016. Meanwhile, offensively, Green Bay will still be trying to figure things out without Davante Adams.

Week 2 v. Chicago: Win (1-1)

No matter where you look, the Bears’ over/under win total for the 2022 season is among the lowest in the NFL, as many expect it to be a rough year for Chicago. It’s the home opener, and the Packers are by far the more talented team.

Week 3 at Tampa Bay: Loss (1-2)

Aaron Rodgers — and the Packers — have struggled playing in the state of Florida, for whatever reason, and Green Bay is 0-2 against the Tom Brady-led Buccaneers. That Tampa defense ends up being too much for a Packers offense that is still trying to find their way.

Week 4 v. New England: WIn (2-2)

This game will likely be close because New England does have Bill Belichick at the helm, but the Green Bay Packers have the better quarterback, the more well-rounded team, and it’s at home. This is also New England’s third road game in the first four weeks to start the season.
