The 2022 NFL season hasn’t even begun; in fact, we aren’t that far removed from the initial waves of free agency taking place–that was only a few months ago. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t take a look at which members of the Green Bay Packers are in the final year of their current deals.

When it comes to free agency, there are three categories–exclusive rights, restricted, and unrestricted. For this article, we will be taking a look at the unrestricted free agents, who come next offseason, have the ability to sign with whomever they please and for whatever amounts of money they can receive.

Here is who those 12 Green Bay Packers are along with my thoughts on each of them.

Adrian Amos

Admittedly, I am a little bit surprised that the Green Bay Packers haven’t offered Adrian Amos an extension at this point. Darnell Savage will be back in 2023 on the fifth-year option, but he, Tariq Carpenter, and Vernon Scott are the only safeties under contract next season currently.

But on top of the positional need, Amos has been a fantastic addition to the Green Bay secondary–putting the word “safe” in safety. He’s been incredibly durable, just completing his fourth consecutive season of playing over 1,000 snaps.

Amos is dependable against both the run in the pass, finishing with the sixth lowest tackle rate among safeties in 2021 while ranking first in PFF’s coverage grade at the safety position since 2018. Last season specifically, he allowed just a 57% completion rate and 10 yards per catch with three interceptions and seven pass breakups.

In short, Amos is one of the best safeties in the NFL and is still 29-years-old. However, it certainly seems like the Green Bay Packers are in a wait-and-see mode with his contract. That, of course, doesn’t mean he won’t be re-signed, but it doesn’t look like Brian Gutekunst and Co. are in a hurry either.
