Packers’ breakout candidate: Darnell Savage

We’ve been seemingly waiting for Darnell Savage to break out since he was drafted and it hasn’t quite happened yet. And similar to past years, the coaching staff is very high on him entering this season.

Savage had a great second half of the 2020 season that many were hoping would carry over into last year. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and the safety took a step back in his play. With his rookie contract coming to an end after the 2023 season, he’ll need to quickly make that next step a reality. Savage has the theoretical ability to play all over the field, including in the slot matched up with receivers. Now he just needs to put that into reality.
