The Green Bay Packers have six selections on Day 3, and they use their first to select at pick Nevada WR Romeo Doubs at 132 overall in the fourth round.

Instant takeaways from the Packers selecting WR Romeo Doubs

– Christian Watson may bring big-play ability, but there is no such thing as having too much of it.  Doubs finished the 2020 season third in deep receiving yards among all receivers, per PFF ($$). He also finished 14th in total YAC that season as well.

– Doubs measures in at 6’1″ – 201 pounds. He did not do any athletic testing but put up 13 reps on the bench press.

– He is a very experienced and a high-volume wide receiver with 339 career targets over four seasons, including 110 in 2021. Doubs hauled in 66% of those passes at 14.9 yards per catch with 26 touchdowns. In 2020, he would average 17.8 yards per catch.

– Doubs spent most of his career lined up on the boundary but played in the slot 11% of the time.

– Last season, Doubs was targeted heavily in the middle of the field, with 65 of his total targets coming between the numbers. While he has that big-play ability as a downfield threat, he made plays at all three levels of the field–although he is a bit raw as a route runner.

– If this is the last pick the Green Bay Packers make at wide receiver, their room will consist of Lazard, Cobb, Rodgers, Watkins, Doubs, and Watson. Not to mention that they have other pass-catching options at tight end and running back.

– Doubs was also a very good return man at Nevada, averaging 12.5 yards per return with a touchdown on 37 career attempts.

– During the NFL owner’s meetings, LaFleur mentioned that this offense needed speed and playmaking, well, that was clearly the emphasis with the Green Bay Packers’ selections of Watson and Doubs.

– Here is what Lance Zierlein of NFL.com had to say about Doubs in his pre-draft report:

"“Will check the boxes for height, weight and speed, but tightness in his lower half limits the upside. Doubs has been a productive, high-volume target with speed to separate deep but he’s a linear route-runner who will struggle to elude NFL press and separate from tight man coverage over the first two levels. His toughness, ball skills and special teams potential increase his chances of earning a backup role.”"
