Round 2 and 3 mock draft for Packers: Finally, a wide receiver
The Green Bay Packers now turn their attention to Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft, as they’ve successfully put the first round behind them. What will they do next?
Green Bay went all defense in the first round, shocking many analysts and angering a lot of fans along the way. The good news is Day 2 should be just as busy, as they hold two second-round selections and one third-round picks. General manager Brian Gutekunst could choose to stand pat and let the draft fall to him as he did in the first round, or leverage his plethora of picks to move up and grab a targeted player.
This is when the draft begins to get extremely unpredictable, but we’ll do our best. Here is a mock draft for the Packers Day 2 selections.
With Round 1 of the 2022 NFL Draft in the books, let’s see who the Green Bay Packers take in Rounds 2 and 3 in the mock draft.
Round 2, 53rd overall pick: David Ojabo, Edge, Michigan
Green Bay went with two defensive players with their first two picks and they continue that trend with their first selection on Day 2. The Packers have Preston Smith and Rashan Gary on the edge and that’s about it. They could desperately use depth and a long-term plan for when they are ready to move on from Smith.
If it wasn’t for a Pro Day injury, there’s no chance David Ojabo would’ve lasted this long. Ojabo won’t be able to play during his rookie year, but he’s the best long-term prospect remaining at this point in the draft. Green Bay loves to use the draft for that long-term team-building anyways so this should gel with what they want to do.
When healthy, Ojabo can use his elite speed to fly past offensive tackles and disrupt the backfield. He’s a pass-rushing specialist and would provide a nice boost in that department for the Packers. He has a great size and athleticism combination for the position and would continue the trend of great athletes.
