The NFL Draft is now a little less than a month away, and of course, wide receiver remains the Green Bay Packers’ biggest need.

As I discussed in a recent article, given Brian Gutekunst’s history of moving up in the draft, the hole at the receiver position, and all of the draft capital that the Packers have, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Green Bay operate aggressively to make sure they get their guy in Round 1.

When it comes to other positions, building depth at edge rusher, safety, tight end, the offensive line, and interior defensive line is going to be important as well, but given how well the roster is constructed at those positions, the Packers won’t have to force anything, and they can let the board come to them–taking the best player available.

With the draft later this month, I will be ramping up my output of these Mock Draft Roundup & Takeaway articles, where I compile several recent mock drafts from analysts and give my thoughts on each selection.

Here is who the Green Bay Packers are selecting with their first-round picks in several mock drafts.

Pick 22: George Karlaftis, Edge, Purdue

Pick 28: Christian Watson, WR, North Dakota State

Takeaways: Reliable edge depth is a big need for Green Bay, and Karlaftis was uber-productive with 109 total pressures during the 2019 and 2021 seasons–not to mention that he can also play inside if needed, and he is stout against the run as well.

At 28, Green Bay gets their receive and someone who just screams “Packers player.” Watson is big, athletic, can win downfield — an element this Green Bay offense needs — and could even provide some help as a return man.
