After the unforeseen trade that sent Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Green Bay Packers approach the 2022 NFL Draft with new draft capital and plenty of team needs. General Manager Brian Gutekunst has a plan to fill their needs, and there is no better place than the NFL Draft.

The draft season is a time of hope for every team, and with the number of picks the Packers have this year, it is more exciting than most. For this article, I did a 3 round mock using a simulator from thedraftnetwork.com.

Without further ado, let’s jump into the picks

Green Bay Packers 22nd Overall Pick

Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State

This pick makes almost too much sense. The Green Bay Packers are in desperate need of wide receiver help, and Chris Olave is one of the best prospects in this year’s draft class. After a distinguished career as a Buckeye, Olave put up very impressive numbers at the NFL combine, which all but solidified him as a top receiver in this draft class.

The Packers are in desperate need of a new wide receiver 1, and I believe Olave delivers just that. He is the entire package—great speed, outstanding hands, and at 6’1”, he has the build of a premier pass-catcher in the NFL. On top of that, he can contribute right away. He was a stud every year at Ohio State and comes with a winning pedigree. Olave is an easy choice for me at pick 22.

If you need any further convincing that Olave is the man at 22, check on this highlight video.

Green Bay Packers 28th Overall Pick

Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah

With the need for a wide receiver already addressed with Chris Olave, Devin Lloyd becomes a prime candidate for the 28th pick. He offers versatility and can fill multiple needs for the Packers right away.

As an uber-productive fifth year senior, Lloyd filled up the stat sheet all year long. He has experienced blitzing off the edge, and also is adept at playing the run from a traditional inside linebacker position.

The Packers need depth in their linebacking core, and Lloyd gives them just that. He has matured and developed throughout his collegiate career and will need to be an impact player from week 1.

Lloyd is the type of proven playmaker the Green Bay Packers will look to add to their defensive gameplan. His versatile skill set, and ability to impact the game in numerous ways will make him a valuable asset to defensive coordinator Joe Barry.
