It’s time for another edition of Mock Draft Roundup & Takeaways, although things have certainly changed since we last did one of these. The Green Bay Packers now have two first-round picks and four picks within the top-60 after trading Davante Adams.

With this extra draft capital, how the Packers approach the draft has been altered. So let’s take a look at who the draft analysts have the Packers selecting in the first round, and as always, I’ll have my takeaways as well.

Pick 22: Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State

Pick 28: Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama

Takeaway: At 5’10” – 178 pounds, it’s fair to wonder whether the Green Bay Packers have interest in Jahan Dotson given his size. As we all know, the Packers love big-bodied wide receivers, who typically are over 6’0″ and weigh at least 190 pounds. However, Dotson did show that he can win in all three areas of the field and be a high volume target, with 137 passes thrown his way in 2021 alone.

Williams would provide the Packers with that much-needed deep threat. According to PFF ($$), Williams averaged 20.6 yards per catch in 2021 and 15.0 yards per average depth of target. It also needs to be mentioned that Williams is coming off a late-season ACL injury, so he may not be ready to go for the regular season.

Daniel Jeremiah – NFL.com

Pick 22: Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State

Pick 28: Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State

Takeaway: Olave has become the favorite of many Packers fans and it’s easy to see why. He is considered by many the best route runner in this year’s draft class and could step in and be “the guy” in this Green Bay wide receiver room. Olave also caught nearly 70% of his career targets.

Jeremiah also has the Packers taking Jahan Dotson at Pick 28. As big of a need as receiver is, I do wonder if they would actually double-dip at the position in Round 1, considering they have five picks in the top-100. My guess is that they don’t.
