Post Davante Adams Trade Green Bay Packers 3 Round Mock Draft
By Paul Bretl
In return for sending Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Green Bay Packers received picks 22 and 53 in this year’s NFL draft.
While wide receiver is certainly a big need right now, and there is no replacing Adams, having four picks in the top-60, five within the top-100, and seven in the first four rounds will allow the Packers to better round out this roster at other positions of need.
In addition to receiver, some of the other positions of need include cornerback, safety, offensive tackle, tight end, interior defensive lineman, and edge rusher.
I had yet to put together my own mock draft up to this point but thought this was as good of a time as any to dive on in. Below are is my three-round mock draft using The Draft Network’s mock draft machine, and at the end, I’ll share some final thoughts as well.
Green Bay Packers Pick 22: Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State
Not only is wide receiver an obvious need in 2022, but it’s a big need in the coming years as well. Currently, the only receiver under contract in 2023 is Amari Rodgers. So while I think there is value in adding a veteran to the mix in free agency, addressing receiver in the draft is a must as well.
Many believe that Olave is the best route runner in this year’s draft class. In fact, The Draft Network would call him a “true route technician.” Having that refined route-running ability and reliability as a pass-catcher — he caught nearly 70% of his career targets — will allow Olave to step in and make an impact in this Green Bay Packers’ offense right away, which of course, they very much need at this time. He can also be that high volume pass-catching target as well.
