This year will be Brian Gutekunst’s fifth draft as GM of the Green Bay Packers, and during that time, it’s been difficult to gauge what he is going to do in the draft–especially early on.

There have been several picks that have left many scratching their heads, and he’s also shown that he is not afraid to move around via trade either. But when it comes to Gutey making these selections, one aspect that we know he covets is athleticism.

To help quantify and compare the athletic testing of athletes at the NFL Combine, Kent Lee Platte has designed the Relative Athletic Scoring (RAS) measuring system. In short, this scale ranges from 0 to 10, with 10 being elite and 0–well, not so much.

Based on how a player tests in each athletic event at the combine as well as their pro-day, they will fall somewhere on that 0-10 scale, making it very easy to compare the athleticism of players within their respective position groups. There is obviously much more that goes into these calculations, so I encourage you to read more about RAS and how it works by clicking here.

While I don’t imagine Gutey is flipping through Kent’s site looking at the RAS results, there is a strong connection between the players who test very well at the combine and have a high RAS score and the selections that Gutekunst has made.

Over his first four drafts, Gutekunst has made 37 selections, with 33 of them having a RAS score. Of those 33, 25 have scored above 8.0, including 14 above a 9.0, and only five of those selections have scored below 7.0.

So with the 2022 NFL Combine almost complete, here is a position by position look at which players scored above 8.0 this week–because odds are, there are going to be some future Green Bay Packers on this list.

Please note this list will continue to be updated as more RAS scores are published
