The Green Bay Packers have a lot of questions in general that they must answer both before the 2022 offseason officially begins and after it. And the position that is most influx is at wide receiver.

Despite the big questions like how will Green Bay get under the salary cap and will Aaron Rodgers’ return, the Packers also have a Davante Adam’s sized hole they’re staring straight at. There’s no easy path to retaining the best wide receiver in the NFL but the Packers will certainly try their hardest.

Adams is just the biggest headliner, however, as Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Allen Lazard and Equinmeous St. Brown are also free agents of one type or another. With a lot of question marks surrounding this position, let’s make three bold predictions about what will happen to the Packers’ wide receivers this offseason.

The Green Bay Packers have a lot of questions to answer regarding their wide receiver position this offseason so let’s make some bold predictions.

Bold prediction for Packers’ wide receiver position this offseason: Re-sign Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Green Bay needs to find a way to retain some talent and continuity at the position considering all of the unknowns surrounding Adams and his contract demands. The Packers can’t enter the season with Allen Lazard (an exclusive rights free agent Green Bay can likely bring back fairly cheaply) and Amari Rodgers as the only holdovers (Randall Cobb’s future is unclear as well and the Packers will touch his cap number either via a cut or contract restructure).

Valdes-Scantling is the Packers’ best home run hitter and has the most potential of any of the receivers not named Adams to take that next step. He has elite speed and seemingly improved his hands in 2021. Now, they just need to see him turn that into results on the field. I predict Valdes-Scantling will sign a one-year prove-it deal with the hopes of entering 2023 free agency with a high stock.
