Wisconsin Basketball has had a very good 2021-2022 season.

On Saturday, the NCAA men’s selection committee revealed their top 16 teams for the NCAA Tournament if the season were to end today. Among the teams found in the top 16 are the Wisconsin Badgers. The Badgers stood as the No. 13 team in the early bracket reveal. In other words, the Badgers were the top-ranked 4th seed in the bracket.

Wisconsin Basketball has a chance to build upon their resume in the final three weeks before Selection Sunday.

The Badgers currently stand at 21-5 and have the same amount of losses as both Purdue and Illinois at the top of the Big Ten Conference.

The team has a strong resume already and will have plenty of opportunities to build on it before the official men’s bracket is revealed on March 13th. The Badgers have four games remaining on their schedule and only one of them is against a ranked opponent. As long as the team is able to take care of business, they will be able to build on their strong spot in the early seeding reveal.

Ideally, Wisconsin should hope to go 3-1 over the final four-game stretch. They will have a couple of tough tasks to get there, however. The Badgers will have a potential revenge game against Rutgers on February 26th.

Rutgers has been one of the hottest teams in college basketball lately, having won their last four games and all against ranked opponents. It may not have seemed that way a couple of weeks ago, but defeating Rutgers will be a huge boost for Wisconsin’s resume if they want to make a jump into the top 3 seed lines.

The Badgers also will have a rematch with Purdue on March 1st. Wisconsin already has one win against Purdue earlier this season on January 3rd. The second matchup between the two teams could potentially determine who wins the Big Ten during the regular season. With Wisconsin and Purdue being two of the three teams on top of the conference, a victory would go a long way in determining who is able to win the Big Ten.

Rutgers and Purdue are going to be two very difficult games for the Badgers. Winning at least one of those two games will be huge to keep them currently among the top 16 seeds in the tournament. A win against both would help them make a tremendous jump into at least a three or potentially the two-seed line.

If the Badgers are able to win against both teams, they will likely win the Big Ten this season. It’s an unlikely scenario where the Big Ten regular-season champion would be a four seed.

The Badgers have done a great job of getting to where they currently stand now. They have a lot of wins against quality opponents, and that will only help their case when Selection Sunday rolls around in three weeks. It’s going to be very important that they keep their foot on the gas and finish strong if they want to stay where they are or improve their spot.

It will be exciting to see how things play out for the Badgers down the home stretch of the season. They have a team that has the potential to make a very deep tournament run if they’re able to get hot at the right time.
