6 trades the Milwaukee Bucks could pull off before the deadline
By Todd Welter
The NBA trade deadline is rapidly approaching. The Milwaukee Bucks could use another perimeter defender and some depth at the center position before the February 10th deadline.
It will not be easy to pull off an impact trade.
The Milwaukee Bucks, by rule, cannot trade any first-round picks this season. The Milwaukee Bucks currently have a $46 million luxury tax bill due.
That limits what draft pick assets they can send out to a team and also limits how much salary Milwaukee can take back.
Donte DiVincenzo and Jordan Nwora are young players that could intrigue other teams. The problem is DiVencenzo has struggled since returning from an injury. He is averaging just a little bit over 7.0 points per game and is struggling to make his threes.
Nwora has been very inconsistent, provides solid shooting, and not much on defense. He still has some potential to become a solid rotational player in the NBA.
DiVincenzo and Nwora are also set to be restricted free agents after the season. A team would really have to love both to want to take on half of a season audition before handing one or both a new contract.
Therefore, The Milwaukee Bucks enter the trade deadline armed with two young players. Both have some upside but a lot of questions marks in their game. When it comes to draft picks teams want back in trades, the Bucks can only offer second-round picks to address their two major needs.
With that trade ammunition, do not expect the Milwaukee Bucks to make a run at Ben Simmons.
The Milwaukee Bucks are rumored to be trying to get Boston Celtics’ guard Dennis Schroder, but they might get outbid by other teams.
There are a couple of possible moves that general manager Jon Horst could pull off if he misses on Schroder using players like DiVincenzo and Nwora to address the Milwaukee Bucks’ needs at center and wing defender.
