Guess who is back? At least for an initial 10-day contract, anyways. According to Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype, the Milwaukee Bucks are signing Greg Monroe to a 10-day contract.

The Milwaukee Bucks have been on the search for added big man depth for much of the season in Brook Lopez’s absence and have used the 10-day contract previously as a way to help accomplish that.

Greg Monroe spent two-plus years with the Milwaukee Bucks prior to being traded.

Monroe last played for the Bucks during the 2017-2018 season and spent a little over two seasons here before he was traded to Phoenix as part of the deal that brought Eric Bledsoe to Milwaukee. At the time, Monroe was one of Milwaukee’s biggest free-agent additions.

Monroe appeared in 160 games, averaging nearly 26 minutes with the Deer. He would record 13.5 points per game along with 2.3 assists, 1.0 steal, and 7.7 rebounds. Overall, he shot 52 percent from the field.

Following his time with Milwaukee, Monroe spent time with the aforementioned Suns, as well as Boston, Toronto, and Philadelphia up until the 2018-2019 seasons. He then spent some time in Europe until returning to the NBA this season on a few other 10-day deals.

With Washington and Minnesota this season, Monroe would appear in five total games and average 16.2 minutes per contest. He recorded 5.6 points per game on 59.1 percent shooting with 6.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.0 block.

Monroe was the seventh overall pick in the 2010 draft by the Detroit Pistons. He has 637 NBA games under his belt and has averaged 13.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game over his career.

Scotto would also add that Monroe had a few offers for 10-day deals on the table but wanted to come back to Milwaukee. I would imagine that Monroe’s role is going to be small, but he provides depth at a position of need, as well as experience, not to mention that it is always nice to have an old friend return home.
